Denali Park In Winter: You'll Be Able To Go In The Park

Winter travel okayed into Denali in 2013-2014.
Whether you call it "McKinley" or "Denali" it's still North America's tallest mountain. And the best time to see it is in the winter -- something that few people take advantage of.
Denali National Park's longtime closure of the "Park Road" in the winter time is coming to an end. People who live in Alaska have always known that the very best time to see "the mountain" is during the winter, when the cloud cover is relatively low. For years, the road into the park has only been plowed to Mile 3 of the Park Road. But now, the park service is accepting applications for commercial use authorizations for vehicle tours of the first 12 miles of the Denali National Park Road from mid-February to May 10th. You can view the mountain from around Mile 9 of the road.
